Montséret (11)

A fire has been reported near the town of Montséret, in the Aude department (11), in the Corbières mountain range. Three GIFF units are currently deployed at the scene of the pine forest fire to prevent the flames from spreading. The fire is now under control and has been in the process of being extinguished since around 6.00 pm by the 200 or so firefighters mobilised to tackle this pine forest fire. Some 50 hectares of vegetation are reported to have been burnt. One Dash aircraft also helped to slow the rapid spread of the flames, which were being fanned by strong winds at the scene. The village of Saint-André-de-Roquelongue and the Frontfroide mountain range were protected thanks to the firefighters.
