A major wildfire was reported on Tuesday afternoon at a place known as Château d’Aigues-Vives in the commune of Générac, in the Gard (30). According to our information, which has been confirmed by the fire service, nearly 500 hectares have gone up in smoke.
The fire broke out on the road to Saint-Gilles-du-Gard. No fewer than four forest fire-fighting teams were deployed, alongside eleven aircraft from the French Civil Protection service.
Reinforcements arrived from the Bouches-du-Rhône, the Hérault, the Vaucluse and UIISC 7 in Brignoles.
Friday, 9.54 pm: The fire has been brought under control; 300 hectares of vegetation have been burnt, in addition to the 488 hectares already affected by the fire.
Friday, 7.11 pm: Over 150 hectares of vegetation have been burnt, and the fire is still burning.
Friday, 5.30 pm: We have received some terrible news: a Civil Protection water-bombing aircraft has crashed whilst carrying out water drops on the fire. The Tracker 22 has crashed into the fire.

Friday 2 August, 2.20 pm: The fire in the municipality of Beauvoisin has reignited; 5,000 m² have already gone up in smoke. Civil Protection’s aerial resources are on their way.
Wednesday, 3.35 pm: The fire has flared up again; smoke is visible from Istres in the neighbouring department of Bouches-du-Rhône
Wednesday, 10.47 am: The fire has flared up again; two Canadair aircraft from the Civil Protection Service are in the area.
Wednesday: The fire was contained to 488 hectares early this morning by the many firefighters who had been working through the night. Emergency services will remain on site to monitor the area and ensure the fire is fully extinguished; flare-ups are still possible given the number of remaining hotspots.
Tuesday, 10.15 pm: 465 men and women were on site. A command centre was set up.
