A fire has been reported in the hamlet of Franquevaux, in the municipality of Beauvoisin, in the Gard department.
This is a repeat of the Générac fire
Firefighters from the Gard are on their way; they are being supported by aerial resources from the Civil Protection service.
9.54 pm: Fire brought under control; 300 hectares of vegetation burnt.
7.11 pm: Over 150 hectares of vegetation have been burnt, and the fire is still burning.
5.30 pm: We have received some terrible news: a Civil Protection water-bombing aircraft has crashed whilst carrying out water drops on the fire. The pilot of Tracker 22, which crashed into the fire, has died.
5.10 pm: 88 hectares of vegetation burnt; one firefighter suffered minor injuries
4.22 pm: Reinforcements from outside the department are being sent in.
2.54 pm: 10 hectares of vegetation have been burnt in this latest flare-up.
14:20: The Générac fire, located in the municipality of Beauvoisin, has flared up again; 5,000 m² have already gone up in smoke. Civil protection air resources are on their way.
