According to the latest official statement from SDIS 30, published this morning at 8.00 am on their social media channels, no fewer than 600 firefighters have been deployed since yesterday, Friday, to tackle the various fires. They are being supported by around 190 ground vehicles and numerous aerial resources.
It should be noted that, as we mentioned from the outset, the fire in Générac was indeed a new blaze and not a flare-up of Tuesday’s fire. Nearly 11 hectares were also destroyed in Montignargues, where a firefighter sustained minor injuries.
Adverse weather conditions
Unfortunately, as has been explicitly pointed out Agate Météo’s services, the weather is set to remain very unsettled over the next few days.
Temperatures are expected to rise again this Saturday and tomorrow, Sunday, reaching between 35°C and 38°C, particularly in the plains of the Hérault and Gard, and possibly as high as 39°C.
A land breeze will also be present in the inland plains, whilst a sea breeze will prevail along the coast and in the low-lying plains. Gusts will generally range from 25 km/h to 50 km/h.
