A major wildfire is currently burning in the commune of Générac, in the Gard department (30).
For your own safety, please avoid the area and ensure that emergency vehicles can gain access.
The fire service is asking members of the public not to go to the area, so as not to hinder the work of the emergency services, and to observe basic safety precautions in view of the significant risk of forest fires, given the current adverse weather conditions.
“30 fire engines and nearly 90 firefighters are responding to a fire that broke out on Chemin de la Rouquette and has so far spread across approximately 5 hectares of low vegetation and pine trees,” according to the SDIS 30 Facebook page.
Civil protection aircraft, along with the Gard SDIS water-bombing helicopter, are on the scene and will carry out several water drops. The Mas Sainte Colombe has been evacuated.
