A major fire is currently raging in Mazaugues, in the Var department.
The fire brigade has been alerted.

1.25 pm : Report of a fire breaking out at the entrance to the village of Mazaugues on the road to Saint Maximin
3.00 pm : The fire is subsiding (according to eyewitness reports). The swift action of the department’s and Civil Protection’s aerial resources, as well as the fire brigade on the ground, has helped to reduce the intensity of the fire
3.30 pm : The fire service is stepping up its ground-based water resources despite the fire spreading at a slower rate. Currently, 5 hectares of vegetation have been burnt
4.00 pm : The fire is located to the north of the village, in a place known as La Crau de Sarrasin
