France has never experienced a period like this before. Between the drought and the heatwave, tens of thousands of hectares have gone up in smoke.
In Gironde and the Landes, the massive wildfire has been burning continuously since last Tuesday, despite the large number of firefighters deployed both on the ground and in the air.
According to the latest figures released by the fire service, no fewer than 6,200 hectares have been destroyed in this resurgence of the Landiras fire, which had already ravaged nearly 14,000 hectares last July.
