Following the death of a helicopter pilot announced on Thursday in Canada, the death toll from the forest fires has risen to three. Last week, two firefighters who were battling two separate fires also lost their lives.
The helicopter was reported missing early on Wednesday evening. It was eventually located later that evening near Lake Haig. On board was a 41-year-old pilot, who was taken to hospital and pronounced dead shortly afterwards. An investigation has been launched.
