Rognac (13) – major fire currently underway

A major fire is currently burning in Rognac in the Bouches-du-Rhône department (13). For your own safety, please avoid the area and ensure that the emergency services can gain access.

FOLLOW-UP

7.00 pm - There are still a few pockets of fire.

6.15 pm - The fire has now been brought under control; it had spread across 21 hectares. 46 airdrops were carried out.

5.50 pm - Three Canadair aircraft in flight; one home affected by the flames.

4.53 pm - According to the SDIS 13 fire service, significant resources are currently being deployed: 75 vehicles, 220 firefighters, two water-bombing helicopters, four Canadair aircraft and one Dash aircraft from the French Civil Protection Agency. Additional resources have been requested.

4.45 pm - Footage from a BFMTV reporter on the scene.

4.30 pm - The fire is spreading unchecked; four Canadair aircraft are heading to the scene.

4.15 pm - Homes on the left flank need to be protected. Resources are being deployed in an attempt to halt the spread of the fire.

4.10 pm - A Dash is arriving to reinforce the numerous resources already deployed by SDIS 13. Numerous alerts have been received via our Forest Fires app.

4.05 pm - Two HBE units are on the scene; a large plume of smoke is visible.
