THURSDAY 4 JANUARY
5.00 pm - The fire had spread across 230 hectares by the time the SIS 2B announced that it had been brought under control.
12.00 pm - The fire is still burning fiercely this Thursday morning. According to the latest report from SIS 2B, it has now spread across 200 hectares of vegetation. One HBE and two Canadair aircraft from the Civil Protection Service have been deployed to bring the fire under control.
WEDNESDAY 3 JANUARY
10.00 pm - According to the latest figures released by SIS 2B, the fire has now spread across 145 hectares of vegetation. The fire is still very active and has therefore not yet been brought under control.
6.00 pm - A new assessment puts the total area burnt at 130 hectares. Firefighters are being hampered by the strong winds sweeping through the area. The department has, in fact, been on MétéoFrance’s yellow alert since this morning for strong wind. The fire has still not been brought under control.
4.00 pm - According to the latest figures, the fire has now spread across 100 hectares since it broke out.
2.30 pm - At least 70 hectares have been affected by the fire so far.
12.00 pm - A major fire has broken out in Haute-Corse, in the commune of Barbaggio. Significant resources are on the scene.
