According to our information, a forest fire was quickly brought under control in Montauban-sur-l'Ouvèze, burning an area of 5,000 m². Several dozen firefighters were called in to put out the fire.
The incident took place on Wednesday morning, when a forest fire broke out at the Col de la Chapelle in Montauban-sur-l’Ouvèze in the Drôme, an area renowned for its vast pastures. The authorities immediately alerted the fire service. In response, 22 firefighters, with reinforcements from the Hautes-Alpes and from the Vaucluse, made their way to the hard-to-reach site.
Fire control and monitoring
Co-ordinated efforts enabled the fire – which had already consumed 5,000 m² of woodland – to be brought under control quickly; although the fire had stopped spreading by early afternoon, the teams remained on site to ensure it did not flare up again. The authorities suspect that a pile of plant waste may have caused the fire.
To prevent the fire from reigniting, a monitoring operation is scheduled for the morning of Thursday 25 April. The fire brigade therefore remains on alert, ready to respond again if necessary.
