A bushfire has been burning since 4.00 pm near the A8 motorway in the municipality of Fréjus, in the Var department.
The emergency services are on the scene.

FOLLOW-UP:
7.00 pm: Fire contained; perimeter control being carried out by ground crews and the two HBE units from the Var
6.00 pm: The fire is no longer spreading; the estimated area has been revised to approximately 7 hectares.
5.50 pm: The four Canadairs leave the shipyard
5.40 pm: Fire still burning; approximately 10 hectares have been burnt
5.20 pm: Four Canadair aircraft and a Dash-8 from the civil protection service have been deployed to assist with the fire
4.50 pm: A water-bombing helicopter from the Alpes-Maritimes (06) has been deployed to the site as backup. The drone team from the Var is also carrying out aerial reconnaissance
4.15 pm: The fire is still burning but is losing intensity. Two Var departmental fire brigades are at the scene
