A major fire is currently burning in the municipality of Sotta, in the department of Southern Corsica (2A).
The fire brigade are on the scene, along with civil protection air assets.
For your own safety, please avoid the area and ensure that the emergency services can gain access.
FOLLOW-UP :
7.40 pm: Fire contained at 25 hectares
5.30 pm: The HBE team are still carrying out airdrops at the site; the fire is still burning and has spread across 15 hectares of vegetation
2.15 pm - Ground and air reinforcements have been requested. HBE and ABE are arriving at the scene. One PUMA is in action. According to the latest figures, the fire has already spread across 3 hectares.
2.00 pm - A major fire has broken out and is spreading unchecked through the scrubland and woodland. Around 8,000 square metres are currently ablaze.
