Despite the massive mobilisation of more than 1,050 firefighters and 270 vehicles, the fire is still open this Tuesday, 9 Julyin the early evening. Weather conditions throughout the day remained very poor, with gusts of wind reaching up to 60 km/h, fuelling localised resurgences.
The air assets, comprising 2 light helicopters, 1 command helicopter and 2 Air Tractors, were deployed to support the ground troops. More than 20 gendarmes are also responsible for securing the perimeter.
Severe damage
The damage assessment remains unchanged:
- Destroyed: 1 workshop, 1 stable
- Partially damaged: 6 houses, 1 chapel, 1 barn
- Damaged: 2 heavy goods vehicles (RD6009)
- Livestock losses: 3 horses
On a personal level, 5 firefighters suffered very minor injuries and 5 civilians taken into care, including 1 child, were recorded. The Narbonne Exhibition Centre had hosted 200 people the night before, either stranded or evacuated.
End of lockdowns
The measures to lockdown were early evening in the Roches-Grises, Montplaisir and Réveillon neighbourhoods of Narbonne, as well as in the towns of Prat-de-Cest (Bages) and Peyriac-de-Mer. The Traffic has returned to normal on the RD6009, RD105 and the motorway The A9 has reopened in both directions since this morning.
Services are still disrupted across the metropolitan area :
- Citibus Transport : lines 10, 14 and 15 are suspended; line E is operating on a reduced service; line 1 does not serve Portel.
- Recycling centres : closed on Tuesday; will remain closed on Wednesday and Thursday (Ecopôle inaccessible)
- Household waste : very limited collection on Tuesday; catch-up collection scheduled for Wednesday across the whole region
