A continues to ravage the Drôme this morning, after covering more than 3,000 hectares. The fire brigade, who have been on the scene for several days, fought all night to contain the flames in particularly difficult conditions. A fire that has gone down in the department’s history as a tragic event.
An unprecedented mobilisation of the emergency services
Nearly 480 firefighters are currently deployed on the ground, supported by around 50 gendarmes. Their operation has helped to protect several vulnerable areas, including isolated homes and pre-positioned zones in Barsac and at the Pennes farm.
Aerial resources were also deployed, with a Dash aircraft and a water-bombing helicopter brought in to support ground operations. Despite the complex terrain and adverse weather conditions, the teams are continuing their efforts to limit the spread of the fire.
