Alpes-de-Haute-Provence: he calls the fire brigade for his friend who has fallen… in Sweden

It was a rather unusual emergency call that came in to the Emergency Call Centre (CTA) in Digne-les-Bains, in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence (04). On Wednesday afternoon, shortly after 3 pm, in the town of… Helsingborg in Sweden, a man fell whilst he was in the middle of a Skype conversation. It was when the victim told his friend in Digne that he could no longer get up that the friend decided to call the emergency services. “He was conscious but couldn’t get up and asked him to call the emergency services,” officers from SDIS 04 told our colleagues at the website Haute-Provence Info. Having treated all the information as a standard alert, the operator followed the standard procedure, issuing a request for assistance abroad which was forwarded to their Swedish counterparts. "Perfect coordination of international emergency response resources. Well done to our CTA-CODIS team for their quick response" said Colonel Frédéric Pignaud, director of SDIS 04.
