Fire services in the south of France have been under considerable strain since the start of this week, as Gironde or even in the Bouches-du-Rhône, to tackle major forest fires. Thousands of hectares have been ravaged in recent days, including more than 7,300 in Gironde. In Gironde, the fires in La Teste-de-Buch and Landiras are still out of control, despite the considerable number of ground and air resources deployed.

Every day on Forest fires, you can view the forest fire alert map. The latter reflects the current risk, area by area and based on the forecasts published by the local authorities in each department, with the support of experts from Météo-France.

The whole of the Gironde and Landes departments, as well as parts of the Aude, Gard, Vaucluse and Bouches-du-Rhône departments, are facing a ‘very severe’ risk of wildfires. Several other areas are at ‘severe’ risk.

Weather conditions are unfavourable, with very high temperatures and occasional wind. It is advisable to exercise caution when near wooded areas, to refrain from using fire, and to comply strictly with the local regulations in force.
